White dream beaches, a delicious cocktail and plenty of time to relax? A dream holiday while the hotel is closed?
But no, the off-season doesn't just mean holidays, it's a very tough and exciting time for the Hotel Morteratsch. As soon as the doors close after the summer season, the winter preparations begin.
In autumn we were able to welcome our new host Christophe Steck to the Hotel Morteratsch. With incredible enthusiasm and innovative ideas, he immediately threw himself into the fray and created many innovations. The homepage was updated and many “to do” were done.
Sitting still and taking a short break is not an option for Christophe and his team at the moment. As a surprise, Christophe Steck becomes the “proud dad” of 9 pygmy goats. He takes responsibility seriously, redesigned the enclosure and built a winter garden for the animals with Silvan Stadler (mountain guide and bricklayer). With a lot of love he stands in the goat park early in the morning and greets every single one. His life partner Stefanie helps with her free days with a lot of joy and love.
We want to offer our guests a beautiful petting park and a small paradise for animals and humans has been created. No matter if big or small, you can take our "goats" to heart and experience a nice and cuddly time with them.
Hmmm, what delicious thing is simmering in the kitchen? Our head chef, Frank Seidensticker, has been bustling about in the hotel kitchen since November, trying out new creations.
Always ready for a joke, Frank always ensures a good mood in the kitchen and incredibly good food. His team uses high quality products, ie seasonal and regional products whenever possible.
And if you would like to drop by for a coffee on our terrace, you will not be able to resist the sweet temptations from the patisserie.
While everyone is bustling around in the house, we have our calm souls at the reception. Boris Solc, new father of two, brings with him the calm and composure that is required at the front. He answers every call with a lot of friendliness and is available to our guests for any question. He is already looking forward to welcoming his first guests to the Hotel Morteratsch and can hardly wait for the start of the season.
Behind closed doors at the Hotel Morteratsch, things are very busy and productive. There is a lot to prepare, renew and organize and we are all looking forward to an exciting winter season with our guests.
Our credo is cordiality, quality and satisfaction. Every guest should enjoy their time in the hotel and restaurant as best as possible and have a wonderful time with us.
Our doors will open on December 7th, 2017 with the visit of Santa Claus. At 5 p.m. he comes out of the forest with his donkey and brings a little surprise for all the children. While he listens to the children's poems, verses and songs, the parents can relax with a warm apple punch. After that, everyone can go to the goats together to feed and pet them.
A snowy greeting from Pontresina
