Highlights in the Engadine
There is a new, marked snowshoe hiking trail between Pontresina and Celerina. Let yourself be guided through the fairytale snow-covered Stazerwald and over snow-covered moorland clearings through the silence of nature. The snowshoe tour can be started from Pontresina train station (cross-country skiing centre) or at the bridge in Celerina that leads into the Stazerwald (cross-country skiing school) and can be hiked as a one-way route or a round trip--tour.
The total distance (there and back) is about six kilometers. The start is signposted at the cross-country skiing centers and the pink markings on the trees or posts show the direction. There is no exact route, but if you follow the markings, you will be able to trudge your own way through the snow.
To enjoy the most beautiful view of the Engadin in complete silence, all you have to do is take a few steps out into the magical mountain world – best on snowshoes. Even beginners can safely set off on the new, three-and-a-half-kilometer-long snowshoe-Muottas Muragl hiking trail. The route is well marked and initially leads along the Philosopher's Trail.
You follow the mountain ridge of the Val Champagna and are already halfway there in the Plaun dals Müls plain. With the Val Muragl, the Bernina group and the frozen lake district in sight, you return to the mountain hotel, where the best way to top off the tour is with a "mountain dining" in the panoramic-restaurant of the Romantik Hotel– and as a bonus enjoy the spectacular sunset.
