Human, you are valuable!
For us, people are the most important and valuable resource on our planet. We want guests and employees to feel at home with us. So we offer a little more than anywhere else:
This is what we do for you...
Respect
we work with people for people. Mutual respect is the foundation for well-being in the Gletscher-Hotel Morteratsch
Fair and exemplary working conditions
we comply with all regulations and even give something extra. So we have thought of a few things to make this job more attractive:
- almost all shifts without room hour
- usually always your 2 days off
- Requests regarding shifts/Fridays/holidays will be taken into account whenever possible
- early duty rosters so you can plan your free time
- Involvement in the shops, your ideas are in demand
- clear structures
- flat hierarchy, du-form, everyone does everything – from the director to the dishwasher
- Warmth, humanity, open ears for your concerns, etc.
Decent pay
We pay you more than the minimum wage, but also expect a little more than a minimum wage. Tips are generous, every employee receives the same amount.
Sustainability with lots of enjoyment and fun
What do we want to say with this? Quite simply: for us, sustainability and responsibility towards natural resources does not mean compromises and restrictions, but rather a clear focus on what is close, what is available, what is good! Our approach therefore offers a lot of enjoyment and fun. Below are some examples that we consciously implement in order to be more sustainable and responsible.
We are already doing this...
Clean Energy
We get our electricity directly from the Val Morteratsch. We have our own water source right here in the Morteratsch – it doesn't get any fresher
Our Swiss Lodge Al Vadret is equipped with a low-energy heat pump
Regional
We buy locally. Z.B. fresh eggs from organic-Farmer in Puschlav, local beef from Plino, Samedan, organic lamb from Zuoz from Casty-Hof, to name just a few.
Self-made
Food & drink is homemade with lots of love. Z.B. the house iced tea with little sugar and lots of naturalness. Or the world-famous nut cake. Or… Or… Or…
Always fresh!
Who live and cook according to the principle: We don't always have everything – but we always have everything fresh!
And we look forward to a little understanding if, in exceptional circumstances, a dish cannot be offered! Grazia fich!
Wine – also from here
Of course, the “New-World-Wines” are also tasty, but why travel far away when the good stuff is so close? We consciously showcase local wines from Switzerland and neighboring countries, and forego wines from Australia, New Zealand, the USA, South America, etc..
We like our glacier
We support all projects that benefit the Morteratsch Glacier.
Nature, movement and deceleration
We believe that the ultimate luxury costs less than we assume.
We believe that the greatest luxury can be found very close.
We believe that this ultimate luxury is available to everyone – you just have to perceive it and enjoy it!
The ultimate luxury in the Morteratsch
Unique location
Our home, and your home too, is probably on the most beautiful spot on earth. The imposing glacier massif is in front of us. From here you can marvel at the impressive moray eel but also the considerable retreat of the glacier. The Morteratsch is a place of liberation and reflection. It inspires reflection. It grounds you. It reduces you to the essentials.
Boring channel surfing? Not with us!
Boring channel surfing? Not with us!
We also want to reduce ourselves to the essentials, to the beautiful. Instead of a television in the room, we offer the largest outdoor-screen with an ever-changing background. Sometimes bright blue with sun, sometimes golden larches with white snow peaks, sometimes snow-white with snow-covered trees and sometimes mystical-grey with wisps of fog. We simply can never get enough of these pictures.
Light pollution? Not in Val Morteratsch
From 23.00 it is dark here. Go outside and look at the incredible starry sky! A quiet, restful sleep without disturbing light, but with the calming scent of Swiss stone pine, awaits you.
Let off steam as much as you can
You rub the sleep from your eyes, step to the window and enjoy the stunning view. You wonder what to do now. A difficult question, we know, but luckily you have some time to decide while you enjoy your delicious breakfast. Here are some suggestions:
- Hiking and letting your thoughts wander
- Climbing and flexing muscles
- Cycling passes and showing off strong calves
- Biking and releasing adrenaline
- Climb Piz Palü and feel happiness
- Cross-country skiing and greeting the squirrels scurrying past
- Leave tracks in the snow and feel freedom
- Rock the slopes and enjoy Schümlipflümli
- Paragliding and seeing the world from above
All of this can be done or started directly from your home. The best thing about it: the Engadin-crazy Morteratsch crew also has fun in this area and gives you helpful tips and tricks. She'll even tell you about some secret tours - simply because it's you!
