A bad weather forecast is not a reason for cancellation

Dear guests, dear Morteratsch- friends, dear mountain enthusiasts

We all know it: the weather forecast is bad. Oh no, I was really looking forward to the beautiful hike, the cool bike-tour or the Aperol Spritz in the sun. But be careful: there is a lot to do in the Engadin even when the weather is bad.

The weather forecast is not always right

There are a few things to consider when studying the weather forecast for a mountain region: it is not always reliable. In the mountains, the weather changes as quickly as at the sea. One minute, black clouds, heavy rain and wind and the next minute, the sun is shining - that is not uncommon. Conversely, a storm can also move quickly. Caution is advised in the mountains.

The cancellation conditions are binding

We are a hotel with obligations towards our employees and our suppliers. Obligations that are financial in nature. Although we often understand a cancellation- request due to bad weather forecast, unfortunately we cannot comply with it. We have our cancellation- agreements that all guests accept when booking and these are binding. It would put a big hole in our budget if we had an empty hotel every time the weather was bad.

There is so much to do when the weather is bad

As the saying goes: there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. A rainy day is sometimes very nice. It can offer the opportunity to finally relax a little. Our world is so stressful and fast-paced. Isn't it a nice idea to spend the day with an interesting book, a cup of coffee or a glass of wine? There are also numerous ways for active guests to spend a lovely rainy day in the Engadin. The mountain valley is known for its numerous bathing areas. Have you ever been to the Bogn Engadina in Scuol? It is very convenient to reach by Rhaetian Railway. Or in Segantini-Museum in St. Moritz? The painter Giovanni Segantini has understood like no other how to capture the impressive lighting conditions and moods in the Engadine on canvas. Worth a visit, I promise you! Another idea would be a trip to nearby Italy, comfortably with the Rhaetian Railway on the world-famous UNESCO-World Heritage-route over the Bernina Pass. This train journey is an impressive experience even when the clouds are low and the coffee in Tirano is always worth a trip.

We are available for more ideas

As you can read, there is a lot to do when the weather is raining. The suggestions mentioned above are just a few of the many possibilities. My team and I are happy to give you more tips.
